The first lesson encourages pupils to spot the influence of the Ancient Greece and Rome in today’s modern world, both in culture and in language. Many of us (adults and children alike!) rarely stop to think about where language comes from. Did someone simply ‘invent’ it? This lesson looks at where the modern English language comes from, and how so many of the words we use are linked to the Latin language.
We also look at some surprising places (the pet food aisle?!) where Classical influence can be seen today.
